Mary and Laura Dress Set for 18 inch American Girl Dolls - For Newtown Memorial Fund

Description: This listing is for the "Mary and Laura" two dress set featured on the cover of Thimbles and Acorns latest pattern.
As a mother of 5 school age children, my heart goes out to the families affected by the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut. Because I was working on these dresses as the news unfolded I have decided sell these as a set and donate ALL the proceeds to the Newtown Memorial Fund. To learn more about the fund, please visit www.newtownmemorialfund.org
Born in 1867, Laura Ingalls Wilder had the privilege of witnessing a whole period of American history; the frontier, the woods, the Indian country of the great plains, the frontier towns, the building of railroads in wild, unsettled country, homesteading and farmers coming in to take possession. Later in her life, she began recording these memories in her classic "Little House on the Prairie" books, preserving a first hand account of those significant years in American History. The "Mary and Laura" dresses are a reproduction of the dresses the girls wore in a picture taken around 1880, the year recorded so vividly in her book "The Long Winter".
This listing for two dress sets, a blue one for Mary and a red one for Laura. Each set includes an overdress, and underskirt, and a hand stitched hankie to tuck in the side pocket. As well as a beautiful wood hanger for each one. The dolls and other accessories are not included.
The dresses are made from high quality, 100% cotton gingham. The dress is fastens with 5 working plastic buttons, and the underskirt fastens with 1 working plastic button. The decorative lace is 100% cotton, and the ribbon ties are nylon velvet. Laura's dress has a decorative plastic button to fasten the ribbon at the neck, whereas Mary's is fastened with a vintage Kiddie Kraft enamel pin.
